Bees do more than just make honey and sting you. Bees make another wonderful byproduct called wax. This wax has been used for centuries and has many different functions. What can you find to do with it?
Beeswax makes great candles. There are sites where you can find all natural candles made from 100 percent beeswax. Candles made with beeswax are known to burn longer and brighter. There is less smoke and fumes, so these candles are more enjoyable. These candles light a room much better than the average wax candle. Beeswax is naturally scented by the honey and nectar of flowers. Because the wax is originally made to seal in honey that was used to feed the hive, the wax soaks up the honey, giving it this wonderful scent as the candle burns.
Believe it or not, beeswax is a very efficient fuel source. When a candle made of beeswax is burned, it produces negative ions that clean the air. It is said that these negative ions refresh the body, giving energy and stamina. In the past it was only the candles that lit the homes and castles. The functionality of the beeswax candle was multi-fold. Being used for light was just one aspect of beeswax. Like the bees, humans used the wax to seal goods so they lasted longer, letters were also sealed with wax, as was the seal or family mark of the person writing the letter. If the seal was broken then you knew the letter had been tampered with. Light, preservation, and security were part of the multi-functional aspect of beeswax.
The world is full of artificial light. Allow beeswax candles to bring back a little bit of the natural essence of life into your home.
