Beeswax Benefits

Beeswax candles are steadily becoming more popular. Though beeswax candles appear to cost more than paraffin candles, they tend to be the better deal because of their long burning time. The burning time isn’t the only benefit of beeswax candles. Because beeswax is a natural and renewable product, it is hypo-allergenic, so even people who suffer from allergies can enjoy beeswax candles. Beeswax doesn’t have any chemicals or fillers to scent them. Since beeswax has tiny amounts of honey in it, the candle will smell faintly of honey.

In contrast to paraffin candles, beeswax candles are naturally drip-free, as long as you place them away from any draft. You’ll want to trim the wick to about one-quarter inch, and like all candles, don’t leave it unattended. Another neat thing about beeswax candles is that because they have no chemicals, they are clean burning. They don’t make smoke or soot, and that will cut down your need to buy air fresheners.

Burning a beeswax candle will create negatively charged ions. These ions circulate in a room with the subtle air currents in your home. While they circulate, they attract unsavory things like dust, mold, bacteria, and other toxins; the ions then neutralize them. What that means to you is that burning beeswax candles will help you to create and maintain a more healthy living environment. Beeswax is considered a non-toxic product, but if large amounts are swallowed, it may cause intestinal blockage. If you have small children, this may be something to consider.
