Children need a guide to help guide them through life and help them make proper choices. The number one decision they need to make is if they are going to take care of their health. Children need a well balanced healthy diet in their life, and parents need to be there to make sure they have this available to them. Healthy eating and being physically active can help them prepare for their future. Most children hit obesity before they even become six years old because of all the unhealthy foods they eat on a daily basis.
The food pyramid is a great way to get started with a good diet. Looking at the food pyramid and following it can keep kids healthy, since it has the best way to stay healthy. It shows you what kinds of foods you should eat and how much of these food you can have. Parents are their children’s role models, so whatever the parents are eating the child is going to want to eat also. The parents should always be eating healthy so that their child will follow that.
Parents should feed their children healthy snacks. Offer your children good but healthy snacks that fall into the food pyramid. If the snack does not match what the pyramid suggests then it's ok, but look at how much fat it has to make sure it isn’t too much. Make snack time a family time! Give your children a choice and let them pick what they want to eat for a snack. Eating healthy and staying healthy is hard to do for some people, but if you do the hard work now then it will pay off in your children’s future.
