Bees Wax Candles: They Don't Just Smell Better

Bees wax candles have been around for a very long time. Since the middle ages, humans have recognized the benefits of burning beeswax candles in their homes. They smell better, and do not release as many bad chemicals into the air as paraffin wax candles. It is important not only to observe the positive attributes of beeswax candles, but also the negative aspects of paraffin candles.

Recent studies have shown that the bees wax candles release negative ions which can help to increase the quality of the air in any room. It is thought that the negative ions, and the flame of a bees wax candle helps to rid the air of dust, odors, toxins, pollen, mold, dust mite and feces. Despite the claimed health benefits to beeswax candles, they also tend to have a better, more natural scent. Beeswax candles burn longer and give off more light than paraffin candles as well. Some say that the candles cost only pennies an hour to burn. The candles are also completely non-toxic and non-carcinogenic. Paraffin candles on the other hand, are a by-product of petroleum production. It is often a grayish black sludge that comes out of the end of the refinery. This sludge is then bleached by a very powerful bleach which is very unhealthy, especially when burned.

Beeswax candles can be very beneficial to burn in ones home. When making a decision about which candles to purchase, price is not the only thing one should consider. The long term benefits of breathing cleaner air in your home should heavily outweigh a small price cut for cheaper, lower quality candles.
