Perennial Gardening

Perennial gardening doesn’t take a genius, but you may need to brush up on how to make your garden beautiful before beginning.  Perennial gardens are made up of long blooming and repeat flowering plants. A couple of basics to be aware of are what kind of light you have (sunlight, partial light or shade) and in what part of the world you are planting your garden. Remember, not all plants can thrive in all climates, so you should choose plants that is suited to your location. The first thing you would want to do when designing your garden is to put the tall flowers in the back and the low ones in the front.  Time of bloom should also be a consideration as you would want your garden to bloom for a long time.  

A perennial garden will bring you pleasure from year to year, but one thing to remember when you begin a perennial garden is that it may not be beautiful the first year.  It takes some patience before it looks like you want it to. One thought is that if you choose too many plants, you may not be able to care for them all properly.  You don't want your garden to look messy.

After designing your simple garden and choosing your plants, the next step is to keep them healthy.  If they are healthy, they will continue to blossom and multiply, thus giving you the larger garden you may have wanted to begin with.  Don't forget: your garden still needs care even though you don't have to replant every year.
