Does your yard need a bit of spicing up?  Or would you like your backyard to be a nice relaxing place to sit and enjoy a good book?  Maybe you have a bad spot in your yard that you just can’t seem to get grass to grow.  This may be the answer to your problems.

Water gardens are becoming very popular.  The great part is that you can make them as small or as large as you want.  You can purchase a water garden kit online that will give you all the basic items you need to get started, or you can purchase different items separately.  The designing of a water garden is all up to you.  Many people start with a basic pond, surrounded with rocks.  Installing an air filter and pump will keep the water trickling so that you can add a few goldfish if you want.  Adding a few beautiful, low-growing flowers or shrubs can give it a bit of color and character.

If you are wanting something a bit more elaborate you can add a fountain.  These can be straight-line or decorative.  You can add lighting in the pond, or around the perimeter, depending on the result you are trying to achieve.  Statues also make a nice conversation piece.  If you place your water garden on a bit of an elevation, you can design the water garden so the water trickles down over rocks, giving a waterfall effect.  You can go a step further and add a second water garden below the first.  This can end up quite exquisite if done attractively, and it will cover a good piece of ground that you will no longer have to mow!
