Juicing

Juicing is a health food technique to increase your absorption of critical nutrients from raw food. Cooking - particularly over cooking - destroys some of the nutritional benefit that you get from most vegetables. While it takes some time to get used to the taste of raw vegetable juice, you can hearten yourself with the knowledge that you are making a great choice for your future health. One of the reasons why juicing is so important is that unhealthy eating over the years conditions your intestines to become weak. Juicing gets you the nutrients you need with minimal digestive effort.

You don't need to add lots of sugar or salt to your vegetable juice to make it palatable. Artificial calorie-free sweeteners are good secondary options, but the best choice are sweeter vegetables like carrots and tomatoes. If you don't want to add those to your juice, there's always fruit to give it the sweetness that will make it easier to drink down. Fruit will raise your insulin, however, so if you already have diabetes or have been warned that you might develop it, take care to monitor your sugar intake. Seedless grapes are also excellent sweeteners.

Green leafy vegetables make some of the healthiest juices, but they don't taste quite as good as some others. Experiment with herbs and spices to make your juices taste as good as they are healthy. Adding in supplements like protein powder or essential oils is a good way to maximize the benefits that you get from your juicing routine.
